Millions of people across the globe choose to participate in Dry January as a healthy way to start the new year. Especially after a drastic increase in drinking during quaratine.
By simply cutting out alcohol from your life, you receive a plethora of health benefits such as:
- Improved Mood Boosts
- Better Sleep
- Potential Weight Loss

- A Stronger Immune System
However, cutting out alcohol completely from your life, even just for a month, isn’t always easy.
Many People Like the Idea of Dry January but Choose Not to Participate
This may sound like a controversial opinion. But, the idea of going completely sober for an entire month is simply too much for a lot of people.
Obviously, if you suffer from health issues, physical and mental, or if you struggle with substance abuse then we highly recommend you abstain from drinking alcohol.
But this article is not for you.
You may have accepted the challenge of Dry January and are still going strong. That’s great, keep up the good work.
But this article is not for you.
This article is instead for those who contemplated the idea of Dry January but chose not to participate. You understand the benefits, think it would be good for you, but for one reason or another, chose not to partake. And that’s okay.
Why People May Not Participate in Dry January
If you feel like you drink too much, we absolutely challenge you to participate in Dry January.
However, if you’ve already made up your mind for this month and chose not to, then we ask you to keep reading.
To be honest, drinking alcohol is a staple in our society.
We as humans have been drinking beer together for thousands of years. A lot of historians argue that growing grain to brew beer was a leading factor in humans becoming farmers instead of hunter-gatherers.
Sharing a beer with friends makes us human almost as much as using tools or walking on two legs.
So much of our social interaction revolves around alcohol that giving up drinking feels like giving up your social life. You may feel odd choosing not to go to happy hour with co-workers. Or you may feel bad about ditching your friends who are meeting up for beer and pizza later.
Dry January may seem like too much of an inconvenience, and that’s understandable.
So instead of challenging you to go completely sober for a month, want to challenge you with something else instead.
Our Challenge to You Instead…
We get it, going totally sober is difficult to do. Even just for a month.
But instead of giving up drinking altogether, we challenge you to supplement just a few of your drinks with non-alcoholic versions instead. Try grabbing a 6-pack of some non-alcoholic craft beer and start your night off with one of those. Or instead of your regular nightcap, grab an NA (non-alcoholic) spirit instead.
Just supplement in a few drinks. That’s all we ask.
We want to pose this challenge to raise awareness for the non-alcoholic movement that’s rising in the US.
We understand that drinking can be a lot of fun. Trust us, we know…
But we also want more people to know that over time, your relationship with alcohol will change, and there are options you can supplement in to still scratch the itch, but prevent yourself from getting carried away.
The NA options available to US consumers are better than ever, even competing in flavor with the real stuff. But don’t take our word for it. We challenge you to try it yourself.
If you need advice on where to buy non-alcoholic beer, we’ve got you covered.
If you’d like to learn what the best non-alcoholic IPAs are, or even the best NA beers of the different beer styles, we’ve got you covered.
We’re not asking you to drop alcohol completely this month, but we do challenge you to do a bit of research, find some NA options you think you’ll enjoy, and give them a try. You will be surprised by what you find.
Pushing yourself and setting difficult goals is what makes you a better person. So consider our challenge in an effort to better yourself. You won’t regret it.
