What are the Best Non-Alcoholic Craft Beers in the USA?

Non-alcoholic beer isn’t what it used to be just a few years ago. Europe has been leading the game in NA beer offerings for quite some time. During that time in the United States, there were just a couple of options.

However, plenty of American brewers have recently been producing some of the best non-alcoholic beers we’ve seen. Now in the US, NA beers come in all different styles and absolutely hold their own against the real stuff.

What are the best non-alcoholic craft beers available to buy in the USA?

So the question becomes, which American NA beer is the best? That’s a tough question to answer simply because there are so many different preferences in styles, IBUs, etc. that to put our finger on the best NA beer would be different person to person.

What we can do, however, is make a list of some of our favorite 0.5 percenters based on their various styles. There’s too much here to try at once, so we recommend sampling some of these NA beers, and future ones if you are interested in expanding your repertoire or are looking for a great gift for the NA beer drinker in your life. If you see one you like, or would like to try, see if it’s available on our online NA beer store.

Best Non-Alcoholic IPAs

The IPA is the classic craft beer. This style of beer could be its own category of beverage itself. With Double IPAs, Hazy IPAs, West Coast Style, Imperial style, the list goes on… And the NA market is no different. The non-alcoholic IPA comes in many different forms, but we’ve taken all of them and combined them into one group here.

KORA by Atmos Brewing

Kora is a double hop IPA from Atmos Brewing Company out of Hailey, Idaho. This one is brewed with pretty fruit-forward hops. They also make their beer with actual water from the Big Wood River!

Straight Drank by Two Roots

Two Roots Brewing has made a name for themselves in the non-alcoholic craft beer market. Their Straight Drank IPA won the bronze medal at the 2020 Great American Beer Festival.

Straight Drank is a can full of danky hop aroma and taste. Made with botanically-derived terpenes and lots of vitamin B12.

Run Wild by Athletic Brewing

Athletic Brewing is a huge player in the NA beer market. They’ve upped their distribution and are available almost anywhere in the US.

Run Wild is a very popular non-alcoholic IPA. Brewed with a blend of five Northwest hops, it has an approachable bitterness to balance the specialty malt body.

Punk AF by Brewdog

Brewdog is a Scottish brewery with their US headquarters in Columbus, OH. Originally, they only offered their NA beers in the United Kingdom, however, they have a great presence across the US today. They have truly set the groundwork for brewing and branding non-alcoholic beer.

They have the non-alcoholic equivalent for most of their regular, alcoholic, beer. Punk AF is one of our favorites.

Trine by Atmos Brewing Company

Another great IPA from Atmos Brewing, Trine is a Mosaic IPA. The three main ingredients in this beer are all sourced from within 3 hours of the brewery in Idaho: Grain from Pocatello, Idaho, Mosaic Hops from Parma, Idaho, and Free Range Water from the Big Wood River.

IPA by Partake Brewing

Partake Brewing was one of the original NA craft beers in the US market. They make their beer with a mix of the dealcoholization process and the arrested fermentation process.

The Partake IPA was the first beer in the Partake catalog so you know they did something right given it led to much success for them.

Pointer by Woodland Farms Brewery

Woodland Farms Brewery has created Maine’s first-ever batch of non-alcoholic beer with their Pointer IPA. This beer is sporadically available as Woodland Farms is not a NA-only brewery. Grab it while you can.

Deep Fake by Flying Dog

Another great non-alcoholic IPA from a brewery that is not NA-exclusive. Deep Fake drinks just like an IPA and is only 29 calories. Nice job Flying Dog.

West Coast Style IPAs

Wayfarer by Atmos Brewing

Hailing from Hailey, Idaho, Atmos Brewing Company (formerly Ethos Brewing) is the non-alcoholic brand of Sawtooth Brewery. They hit the ground running in 2020 with a solid repertoire of NA Brews, Wayfarer being one of them.

A danky, San-Diego style IPA, Wayfarer nailed a few things most non-alcoholic beers struggle to achieve: a hoppy bite and a classic, bubbly head. Its even brewed with water from the Big Wood River.

Weighing in at 16oz, IBU of 65, 13g of carbs, and 69 calories, this brew is definitely a top contender.

West Coast Style IPA by Itsalika Brewing

Based out of Boulder, CO, ItsaLika is an up-and-coming NA brewer with some great beer. Personally, we love their branding and their mission to make great brews that taste justa-lika real beer. Their West Coast NA IPA is a great blend of hops, pine, and citrus.

Fresh Sart by Self Care Brewing

Self Care makes a fantastic non-alcoholic IPA. Fresh Start is no exception. Non-pasteurized so make sure you keep this beer COLD to avoid fermentation in the can.

Hazy IPAs

Hazy IPA by Best Day Brewing

From Northern California, Best Day Brewing has gifted the world one of the best non-alcoholic Hazy IPAs in existence.

Hazy IPA is a real non-alcoholic craft beer for craft beer drinkers. Honeyed amber in color, it has a strong hop-forward aroma with hints of resinous pine and grapefruit. Its luscious medium body has a smooth, complex citrus flavor with a full and lively mouthfeel and a dry finish.

Hazy AF by Brewdog

Along with Brewdog’s long line of non-alcoholic, or alcohol-free beers, Hazy AF is the non-alcoholic version of their popular Hazy Jane regular beer.

If we haven’t said it yet, we love the fact that Brewdog has dedicated an entire line of NA beers to go along with their most popular alcoholic beers. They’re doing a great job normalizing NA!

State Sponsored Juicing by Barrel Brothers

State Sponsored Juicing is a New-England-Style non-alcoholic IPA by Barrel Brothers Brewing Company. It’s packed with hops and flavor. It’s actually the NA version of their alcoholic State Sponsored Juicing. We think it’s awesome when breweries make NA versions of their staple brews.

Fruity IPAs

Juicy IPA by Untitled Art

Untitled Art takes style and innovation very seriously. And it shows in their work. Their portfolio ranges from sparkling water, to alcoholic and non-alcoholic beer.

NA Juicy IPA is a work of art. While more on the fruitier side, it packs a ton of pure flavor. Brewed and fermented with Mosaic and Citra hops.

Elvis AF by Brewdog

Brewdog is a market leader in the non-alcoholic craft beer space. Most of their most popular beers have an NA option alongside them.

Their most popular beer, Elvis Juice, is a grapefruit IPA, and Elvis AF is the alcohol-free equivalent.

Two Roads Non Alcoholic Juicy IPA

Juicy IPA by Two Roads Brewing

Juicy IPA is a non-alcoholic IPA by Two Roads Brewing. Launched in the Spring of 2022, the Juicy IPA pours, smells, and tastes just like an IPA and is extra refreshing.

This is an up-and-coming beer from a brewery that just recently entered the NA game. It’s one of our favorite non-alcoholic IPAs and we highly recommend trying some.

The Pale Ale is similar to the IPA except with a much more balanced malt-to-hop ratio. IPAs are generally much more hoppy than Pale Ales but still taste great.

Another classic by Partake Brewing, one of the original leaders in the NA craft movement.

The Pale is only 10 calories and no carbs. It has a medium bitterness with tropical aromatics.

Best Non-Alcoholic Stouts & Dark Beers

Who doesn’t love a great stout? They’re very different from the rest of the styles of beer in that they’re a nice change of pace, especially on a cold night. Here are some of our favorite non-alcoholic stouts.

Cosmos by Atmos Brewing Co.

For a limited time only, you can get Atmos’ new Peanut Butter Milk Dark stout, Cosmos. Great for the cold winter months. Fulfilling and refreshing.

Stout by Gruvi

Two comments on this beer. One, it’s a great tasting stout. It has a solid “wow” factor to it. Second. Look at that can design. It looks like a top-of-the-line luxury beverage. Nice job, Gruvi!

Best Non-Alcoholic Good-Ol’-Fashioned American Drinking Beers

Alright. This is a difficult conversation to have with any craft beer enthusiast. Don’t get me wrong, I love craft beer just as much as the next guy, but you have to admit that there is a time and place for an easy-drinking, classic American beer. Some may call them “old man beers,” but I prefer the term good-ol’-fashioned drinking beer. Beer that goes down easy and doesn’t slow you down.

If you’re just looking for a cheap, mass-produced macro brew, here are the best of the NA versions.

Penn’s Best NA

Now Penn’s Best has changed ownership a few times over the years. The last we’ve heard, Penn’s Best NA is currently owned by Genesee Brewing Company even though Genesee makes their own branded non-alcoholic beer. Penn’s Best had been a classic staple in the American non-alcoholic beer space for years.

Penn’s Best NA is available at most major alcohol retailers like Total Wine and even Amazon.

Just the Haze by Sam Adams

Most people shy away from the major big beer brand’s versions of NA beer. However, Sam Adams has really impressed the NA market with their new non-alcoholic Hazy IPA “Just the Haze
