Deschutes Brewery has always been driven by the belief that great beer has the unique ability to bring people together. Established in 1988 by Gary Fish in the heart of downtown Bend, Oregon, the brewery started as a modest brewpub, aptly named after the nearby Deschutes River. Fish envisioned it as more than just a place to enjoy a pint—it was designed as a welcoming hub for friends, family, and neighbors to connect over fresh, house-crafted beer and flavorful food. In its inaugural year, the brewery produced a humble 310 barrels of beer, but its commitment to quality and fostering a sense of community quickly earned it a devoted local following.

Today, Deschutes Brewery stands as one of the most recognized names in craft beer, producing over 225,000 barrels annually. While its roots remain firmly planted in Oregon, the brewery’s reach has expanded significantly, with its beers now available in all 50 states and internationally. Over the years, Deschutes has also grown its physical footprint, operating a larger brewery and tasting room just a mile from the original Bend location, as well as a second public house in downtown Portland. Despite this impressive growth, the brewery has remained loyal to its founding mission of uniting people through exceptional beer.

In recent years, Deschutes has embraced the evolving beer landscape by making a strong entry into the non-alcoholic (NA) beer market, marking it as a key area of focus. Since introducing its non-alcoholic beer line in 2025, the brewery has prioritized this sector as part of its broader commitment to innovation and inclusivity. This move reflects its dedication to crafting beverages that appeal to a diverse audience while maintaining the high standards that built its reputation.
