About Hoppy Amber
Hoppy Amber has been at the forefront of non-alcoholic craft beer. As one of the first craft NAs on the market, it has definitely helped create the current buzz the non-alc beer industry has going for it.
Hoppy Amber is part of the non-alcoholic line of beer from Brooklyn Brewing, which they call their “Special Effects” beer.
It is described as having a “peeled grapefruit” and “zesty hop aromas” with a bitter bite to it. It’s available year-round.
About Brooklyn Brewing
Brooklyn, New York
Brooklyn Brewing is a leader in the NA space. For a few years now, they were one of the first craft brewers to release an entire line of non-alcoholic beers alongside their leaded beers. They call this line of NAs their “Special Effects” beers because they leave you satisfied with the great taste of craft beer but without the “effects” of alcohol so that you can do more with your days and nights.
The Special Effects line of beers originally was launched in Sweden in 2019 and then spread to the rest of Europe due to high demand. Now it is available across the US.

Hits like an English Bitter
In the midst of my NA journey…never been a beer wordsmith, Not getting amber vibes with this but that is OK by me because what I taste is something much closer to my heart. This immediately reminded me of an NA version of London Pride or Trooper. Obviously not a ringer, but with so much of the market striving for that lager crispness, or super done to death, hop centric IPAs, I really appreciate the sweeter malty backbone with that “Goldings’esque” hop bitterness so reminiscent of an English ESB. Aroma and color are pretty spot on for that style as well. Bready aroma with some herbal undertones. Deep golden bordering on deeper copper color with great clarity for a NA. Head is one finger, slightly rocky and long lasting for a NA. Some lace as you drink which I love in a NA; it really adds up to a more authentic experience. Taste is pleasantly sweet with very minimum typical NA filler flavors. Carbonation is not as pronounced as some other NAs which I think just adds to my English Ale vibe with this one. Totally, makes me feel like I have a little bit of that “something”.,.that beer mosphere we all search for, whether it’s NA or not. Isn’t that what we are all doing when we pick up a beer? And, hey, that’s the whole quest for the NA brewer, right? Mission accomplished! Well done. I’m pouring another one.

Brown ale with hop
This is more like a brown ale with the right amount of hops and a nice nutty finish. Smooth and very enjoyable sipper!
