Featured NA Beer: AL’s
If you’ve been paying attention to the craft non-alcoholic beer space in the past few years, you may have come across an up-and-coming brand that has been receiving much well-deserved attention.
AL’s is a non-alcoholic pilsner that has stormed onto the NA scene with one of the most noteworthy beers and brands around.
In a world that lacks many options for quality craft pilsners, let alone non-alcoholic pilsners, AL’s certainly holds its own.
Built upon American nostalgia and dive bar dreams, AL’s is an American staple that every NA drinker should try.
The Story Behind the AL’s Brand
After giving up alcohol, founder Alban de Pury set out to create the beer he felt was missing.
Alban was born and raised in Geneva, Switzerland. Being sober in America, he missed the taste of beer. Especially the crisp flavor of the true German Lagers he knew from back home.
While he was aware of the few non-alcoholic beer options available to him at the time, they lacked the body and taste he wanted, and he never felt quite comfortable ordering one in public.
Alban set out to create a crisp, craft NA beer that people would feel confident ordering and drinking. To do that, he couldn’t rely on taste alone. He needed to create a brand that would capture a beer drinker’s attention.
Like most Europeans, he grew up consuming American movies. He was always drawn to the essence of the classic American brands from the 70s and 80s.
As Alban envisioned the style he wanted to portray for his new beer, images of the vintage pull-tab beer can basking under the warm glow of a neon-lit dive bar stood out.
Using the nickname given to him by his English-speaking friends (who had trouble saying the French pronunciation of “Alban”) he had landed on the perfect name to fit the style he was aiming for: AL’s.
Alban had all the ingredients necessary to create the perfect American beer he was searching for.
Thus, AL’s Classic non-alcoholic American pilsner was born.
About the Beer
AL’s is the fusion between the European and American lager.
It combines the craftsmanship of the German Pilsners Alban grew up knowing with the revered personality of the good-old-fashioned American lagers your grandaddy used to drink.
Despite its Swiss roots, AL’s isn’t brewed to be paired with chocolates and cheese. It’s not concocted to slap you in the face with hops and spices.
AL’s is best enjoyed surrounded by a freshly-cut lawn, all while taking in the aroma of sweet grass clippings and the fumes of a cooling mower. The sound of the can cracking open is its audible declaration of a job well-done.
A can of AL’s is 12oz of crisp, bready pilsner that hits the spot no matter what the occasion.
But don’t take our word for it…
We’re big fans of AL’s. But we understand if you’d like a second opinion.
AL’s has been gaining attention from notable publications across the United States. It has been featured as one of the best craft NA beers by the Chicago Tribune, Thrillist, and the Washington Post.
